全美平均约有7%的人口说西班牙语.严格来说，是西班牙人最后到达现在的美国的.（^-^当然不能比印地安人早）. 说西班牙语的移民来自于各不同的国家，因为说西班牙语的国家真不少.但主要是从墨西哥来，还有哥伦比亚等.
在美国，有几个州将英语定为官方语言，但美国联邦的法律中并没有对官方语言的规定.不过因为美国的宪法等重要法律是用英语写的，因此英语实际上是官方语言.
美国是一个移民国家，所以有着很多不同的语言.一个人会几门外语不是很稀奇的事情.再有，如果不会英语，只要找到来自原来国家的人居住的地区，都能找到工作.会说西班牙语找工作的机率比别的语种更容易.（不包括英语）因为会说西班牙语的人在美国真的不少.很多机构（私人的，国家的部门）都会提供西班牙语服务.
我想西班语下来应该是法语，这个我没做过调查，仅供参考.很多来自法国的移民，还有海地，加拿大的法语区都是这些移民的来源.
华语目前越来越多的人愿意选择学，因为很多人都看好中国的前景.我的导师还对我说，你真幸运，是个中国人，会说中文，不用学.我说很多人也学西班牙语呀.可是导师摇头说，那是没眼光，有眼光的会选择学中文而不是西班牙语.呵呵，我听了当然为中国自豪，可是我知道，那只能代表我导师的个人观点.只是有这样意识的美国人越来越多.
